Update on the covid situation in China

Published 2022-03-23

After a week of closure, Shenzhen has now reopened. According to the information we got, staff may now start returning to work again as the infection is said to be under control, however still with certain restrictions.

The closure has affected many businesses in the area, which means that it may take a while before we see a normal situation.

The effect of the shutdown is, among other things, that departures are postponed, regardless of the mode of transport: sea, air or rail.

Even though Shenzhen is on its way back, the spread of infection is still noticeable in China. There are covid outbreaks in about twenty other provinces, which means that some parts of the country have tightened restrictions, limited freedom of movement and extensive mass testing is underway. This creates supply chain disruptions since the handling process takes longer time than expected. The limited freedom of movement in combination with a reduced total capacity creates delays even before the goods are handed in at the terminal for all modes of transport.

There are still fast changes with short notice, and we continue to follow the development.

Feel free to contact us for further information.

Sincerely,
