Continued strained situation

Published 2020-11-16

As we have previously informed via #News, the situation is still very strained in the industry. This applies to both equipment and space on the vessels from Asia and the Indian subcontinent to Europe.

The shortage of 40hc has continued to increase and we also see a large shortage of 40dv. The situation for the industry is now acute, mainly in China, India, Bangladesh and Vietnam, affecting the entire region of Asia and the Indian subcontinent.

All shipping lines are affected, and they have unanimously announced changed conditions by introducing additional PSS at very short notice. The fee is imposed on all cargo from Asia and the Indian continent, which we see ourselves forced to carry forward towards the freight-paying party and the new level to apply to ATD 15 November.

Prior to December, the shipping companies announced a number of so-called Blank Voyage. The reason is ships that have fallen out of phase due to storms, but also due to the strained situation in European ports (e.g. in the UK).

The reasons mentioned above, together with continued strong growth in export volume from China (+ 14% in October), let us estimate that the situation will remain until the Chinese New Year, which begins on 12 February 2021.
